Working a full summer job in a snow cone stand wasn't always the most glamorous job. Between long humid days, sticky syrup and sugar deprived people some days felt harder than others. However as a young real estate agent striving to get my foot in the door I have found it to be the perfect humble beginning. With the stand situated right outside of Walmart I have basically found the golden gate into my community. It was almost too perfect. Here I had everyone coming to me, whether a mother, businessman, teenager or grandma. I had the perfect way to connect with people over sugary ice and good smiles.
As I've been learning about the ins and outs of being a real estate agent there is one fact that I have discovered to always be true. The importance of community. I'm not learning how to sell a home but the lifestyle of that home. For example the people you meet, the geographical surroundings, or even the local churches, can play a big role and make a significant difference for a prospective buyer or seller.
So through what some might consider my very important line of work I've been able to build real connections with the most genuine people. Through serving the people around me one snow cone at a time, I've gotten a tiny glimpse of what a community really looks like. It looks like showing up, helping one another, laughing, and maybe sometimes crying. But with each other we can continue walking, growing, and loving. That's why I'm so excited to work in the real estate industry.
